El Gastor
- just 20 minutes from Ronda
Known as "balcony of the white villages" (or balcon de los pueblos
blancos), El Gastor is a typically beautiful Andalucian mountain
village with meandering cobbled streets, charming flower-decked
whitewashed houses and a typical village square. Located just above
the shores of Lake Grazalema and on the edge of Sierra de la
Grazalema Natural Park, the surrounding scenery is stunning and
breathtaking.
This traditional, yet lively village, has everything you could want
- several "sell all" shops, butchers, a baker, fish mongers, 3
banks, a post office, a pharmacy, 24 hour medical centre and
countless tapas bars. The Thursday morning street market sells
everything from fruit to furniture.
El Gastor is superbly placed for exploring the delightful
neighbouring white villages and the surrounding wild rugged
mountains full of wild flowers, protected forests, birds of prey and
wildlife.

Other sights
- all within an easy drive from El Gastor
El Gastor could not be better placed to visit the rest of Andalucia.
It’s just 20 minutes from the historic town of Ronda, perched
spectacularly on a gorge spanned by the famous Puente Nuevo. Ronda
is renowned for its beautiful Moorish architecture, one of the
oldest bullrings in the country and the many Roman ruins.
Within an hour's drive are the cities of Seville, Jerez and the port
of Cadiz with the famous seafood area of Puerte de la Santa Maria.
Less than 2 hours drive is the world famous Alhambra Palace in
Granada and the stunning city of Cordoba.
Closer at hand are the magical white villages (pueblos blancos) of
Arcos de la Frontera, Setenil, Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra -
to name but a few and all worth a visit.
For nature lovers and artists alike, the Grazalema and Sierra de la
Nieves Natural Parks boast exceptional flora and fauna and amazing
landscapes.
